Nursing

At Annapolis Pediatrics, we understand that your choice of medical providers for your child isn’t limited to just your pediatrician or pediatric nurse practitioner. Our medical staff includes some of the finest pediatric nurses and medical assistants in the area. Our nursing staff is as dedicated to patients and the practice as the providers are; several of our nurses have been with the practice for more than 20 years (one for more than 40 years!).

Often you will see certain nurses working with the same pediatricians or nurse practitioners. This allows the patients to get to know their nurses and our nurses to get to know their regular patients. Of course, this isn’t always true, but we think that in your time with our practice, you will feel as comfortable with the nursing staff as you do with your pediatrician or nurse practitioner.

Jane Howson, RN
Director of Nursing

Jane began her career in banking and finance, but quickly discovered her true calling was in pediatric nursing. After becoming a mother, Jane decided to make a career change and received her Medical Assistant certification in her home state of Louisiana. She worked as a pediatric MA in private practice for 5 years. In 1998 she moved with her family to Maryland and, at that time, she decided to further her education and become a Registered Nurse. Upon completion of her degree from Anne Arundel Community College she joined the Infants and Toddlers Nursing Staff at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

As much as she loved her nursing work at the hospital, Jane made the decision to come to private practice once again in order to spend more time with her young family. Jane has been with Annapolis Pediatrics since 2002 and has been serving as Director of Nursing since 2006. She enjoys her work with the doctors and staff of Annapolis Pediatrics, but also continues to work in patient care. When she’s not working, Jane spends her time volunteering at her daughter and son’s schools as well as enjoying any free time she can find with her family.
