Sefanit Fassil, M.D.
From a very young age, it was clear to all who knew Dr. Sefanit Fassil that she was destined for a life and career involving caring for others. Her love for children and the appeal of medicine made pediatrics her natural life path. After graduating summa cum laude with a degree in Biology from Saint Mary’s College (Notre Dame, Indiana), she attended medical school at Indiana University.
She holds fond memories of her residency years at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she finally completed her long journey to becoming a pediatrician. Dr. Fassil joined Annapolis Pediatrics in March 2006, after pursuing a diverse career of medical practice in various esteemed establishments around the country, including Columbia Medical Plan in Annapolis, MD, Children’s Health Care of Atlanta, GA and most recently, Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates in Wellesley, MA.
Joining Annapolis Pediatrics is like a ‘home-coming’ for Dr. Fassil who began her career as a hospitalist at Anne Arundel Medical Center in 1992. Throughout her earlier stay in Maryland, Dr. Fassil served Anne Arundel County as an expert witness in child abuse cases and as an advocate for child abuse victims. A board-certified pediatrician, Dr. Fassil enjoys the variety of interactions that pediatric medicine brings. She is fluent in her native Amharic, and has a particular penchant for languages, with a working knowledge of Spanish and basic French.
She is married with three young children.
