As a nurse practitioner since 1998, Ms. Friel finds the energy of kids contagious. She received her undergraduate degree from Villanova University, and her graduate degree from the University of Maryland. Ms. Friel is a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP), and is the Legislative Chair of the Chesapeake Chapter of NAPNAP. She is also a member of the Nurse Practitioners Association of Maryland, and is certified by the National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses.

Ms. Friel has clinical interest in adolescent medicine.

She is married with three children. Her hobbies include skiing, boating and swimming, with Hawaii being her favorite vacation destination.
