John McGrath, M.D.

John McGrath, M.D., board-certified pediatrician, joined our practice in 2007. Dr. McGrath came to us from private practice in New Haven, Connecticut. Originally from Connecticut, he began his academic career at Tufts University and received his medial degree from the University of Connecticut. He completed pediatric training in the United States Navy at the National Naval Medical center in Bethesda and Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. Dr. McGrath spent two of these years in Annapolis, where he fell in love with the town and vowed to return.

Dr. McGrath worked as both a Hospitalist and general pediatrician at Naval Hospital Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, NC after completing his residency. He also served as a Navy medical officer and was deployed with the Marine Expeditionary Forces during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Dr. McGrath has two special areas of interested within pediatrics. He has a soft spot for newborns and premature infants, as he sees those patients as among the most vulnerable and in need of top notch medical care. His other primary area of interest is sports medicine. Dr. McGrath is an avid sports fan and active amateur athlete; he is always happy to join in a friendly game of basketball or join friends for a round of golf. Dr. McGrath and his wife, Maggie, a pediatric dentist, are proud owners of Labrador retrievers (all Lab Rescue dogs).
